Salsa Journeyer Apex1 650b

Do you ever feel tempted by the rough-looking side roads and dirt detours you see while out riding? Salsa Journeyer Apex1 650b is here to satisfy your curiosity. An all-new aluminum frame and our Waxwing carbon fork prioritize stability and comfort on all types of roads. We designed Journeyer with adventure-bike features, including fender, rack, and accessory mounts, plus Three-Pack mounts for extra supplies or camping gear. 650b wheels and high-volume 47 mm tires offer a large contact patch for great grip on loose surfaces. SRAM’s Apex 1 drivetrain is a dependable ride partner with the gear range to take on hilly routes or downtown hustles. Journeyer has all the makings of an adventure bike — time to start planning your next getaway.

We use alloy tubing developed specifically for the Journeyer frame, which is then heat-treated to T6 alloy standards for extra strength and durability.

The Waxwing fork features carbon construction with an aluminum steerer. The 12 x 100 mm thru-axle keeps the front end stiff, so it goes where you point it. We designed Waxwing to carry a load, with two sets of Three-Pack mounts and mid-blade rack mounts. Internal Dynamo Hub Cable Routing and fender mounts make it easier to ride in all conditions. Tire clearance is a huge 700c x 50 mm or 650b x 56.5 mm (27.5 x 2.25″), so you can run a wide range of wheels and tires. An abrasion-resistant plate on the inside of the fork prevents wear from mud and other road debris.

Salsa Cycles is an American bicycle brand based in Bloomington, Minnesota. The company produces touring, mountain, road, and gravel bicycles, as well as bicycle components. The Salsa Cycles brand, along with its sister brands Surly Bikes and All-City Cycles, is owned by the Bloomington-based Quality Bicycle Products. After years of riding and racing gravel roads on modified cyclocross bikes, we knew we could build a better bike for the gravel experience. That led us to Warbird, the industry’s first gravel race bike and a machine that helped usher in one of cycling’s biggest movements. But we didn’t stop there. We’ve spent nearly a decade using our experience to build a world-class gravel and road bike lineup.
