Winter Maintenance Classes
You’ve asked, and we listened! Join Lititz Bikeworks shop manager Eric Mason for a 4 week course covering all the essential maintenance for the everyday rider. Essential maintenance is part of the fun of biking, and when your done you’ll have all the knowledge and skills to do it all! Want to learn to change a flat in under 2 minutes? Adjust your brakes and shifting? how and when to clean and lubricate? No problem, Eric has you covered.
Each course is one-hour, in person, at the bike shop. Courses are limited to 5 to keep things personal. Bikeworks will schedule all clinics with you well in advance.
Week 1: The Basics
This is where we dive into what makes a bike work. Consider it to be a discussion about all the major parts and how they should operate. Eric will explain the most common causes of bike issues and how to identify them before they become a larger problem. Eric will also demonstrate how to properly fix a flat tire.
Week 2: Drivetrain and brakes
You’ve tried fixing the noise in your gears and only made it worse, you don’t understand why your brakes sound like a canada goose honking, or the bike shifts on its own… this class is for you. Jump in hands on while Eric explains how to adjust brakes, drivetrain, and fix those annoying noises you are hearing.
Week 3: Clean and Lube
Avoid those expensive trips to the bike shop simply by learning the essentials of cleaning, and lubing up. Watch Eric demostrate how to un-dirty your bike. Pick the right lube for the right ride, and off you go!
Week 4: Hands on your own bike
Bring your own bike for the last clinic and get your hands dirty. Eric will work with one-on-one with you while you wrench on your ride. You’ll put to practice everything that you’ve learned in weeks 1,2 and 3 on a bike that you are most familiar with.
