Bikeworks 7th Annual Cranksgiving

This past Saturday, over 150 riders attended Lititz Bikeworks 7th annual Cranksgiving fundraiser. This event benefits the Ephrata Area Social Services (EASS) food pantry. EASS is a non-profit organization supporting neighbors in need throughout the Ephrata and Cocalico regions of Northern Lancaster County. Assistance programs include the Hand UP Exchange Food & Clothing Bank, Ephrata/Cocalico Meals on Wheels, Transportation Services, and Community Support Services. EASS mission is to empower and connect neighbors in order to build a more vibrant community.

Cranksgiving riders chose from a 30 mile route or a family friendly 1.5 mile route with stops at grocery stores along the way. Riders purchased food, toiletries, non perishables that were later picked up by volunteers and delivered the EASS headquarters on State Street in Ephrata. According to Joy Ahsley, Executive Director of EASS, this was the largest single donation made to the non-profit all year. Lititz Bikeworks is proud to be part of giving back to the community. Rebecca Branle, co-owner of the bike shop said “community advocacy is part of the core values of our business. If we can’t give back to the community at every opportunity, then we are not doing our job as local business leaders.” Rebecca is already brainstorming ideas for the future… “Seven years has gone by so fast, and pretty soon we will be celebrating our 10th year of Cranksgiving. We will have to plan something really big when that day comes”
